Once there was a man, and that man owned the strongest ox in his village. So one day he went into the town and told everyone that he would pay 1,000 silver coins in forfeit if his ox could not draw one-hundred carts all in a row behind him. The men laughed at him, and told him that they would like to see it. So the man tied one-hundred carts together behind the ox, and started whipping the ox and calling it names. The ox refused to move, and the man had to pay the forfeit. That night the man sulked his loss, and soon he got on with life. When he went out to feed the ox, it asked him why he whipped it and called it names because the man had never done that before. The man apologized to the ox, and asked it if he would pull the carts the next day, and the ox accepted. The next day the man offered 2,000 silver in forfeit if the ox would not pull one-hundred carts. The ox pulled the one-hundred carts easily, and the won back the forfeit.
